Hello! My name is Olivia. I'm a teenager who lives in Indiana with
my family. I was diagnosed with SMA syndrome when I was 12.Superior Mesenteric Artery syndrome, also known as SMA, is "a very rare, life-threatening gastro-vascular disorder characterized by a compression of the third portion of the duodenum by the abdominal aorta (AA) and the overlying superior mesenteric artery." according to Wikipedia. The cure to this, is to gain weight. (EDIT: This was a misdiagnosis. For more information on that read this.)
Over the past few months, I've been sick. It started last August when my mom, sister, and I went to the fair. My sister got us all sick with abdominal cramps and nausea. She threw up, but my mom and I didn't. My mom recovered in a week or so, but my sister was sick for about a month and a half. Our pediatrician suggested to clean out the fridge, because something in it might've been contaminated. We did and my sister got better within a week or so. I, however, remained sick. At this point, I had lost enough weight to lose my fat pad and became even more sick. The more weight I lost, the worse I felt.
In the mean time, I've started this blog to help people who want to lose weight and those who want to gain weight. I've also tried to add vegan and egg-free options when I can. I want everyone to be able to eat healthy without thinking they're eating something healthy. This blog has recipes that are adaptable to any diet. And, of course, I'll always post when such options are available.
Along with being a cook (to my sister's chagrin), I'm also an aspired writer. So, this blog is not only a recipe blog, but it will document my personal life. How I'm feeling, how my writings going, problems I'm having, etc. If you got bored with me, by all means just check my blog for recipe updates. But I feel that this blog needs to have more than just recipes. That would be like a book with two-dimensional characters. And I don't want that to happen. I want this blog to have depth and feeling. I want my readers to connected with what I'm trying to convey. (Especially readers my age, who are most likely going through the same thing).
On a happier note, enjoy the blog! It doesn't matter to me if you hate it or love it. I don't care if everyone reads it or no one does. (But I really hope you do like it and lots of people read it.) Have fun! :)
